Ornamental Wedding Cake Icing RecipeIngredients:
Boil the sugar and water together in a medium saucepan without stirring until it reaches 242 degrees. beat egg whites until stiff but not dry. slowly pour in a thin stream of the sugar syrup while beating constantly. add the cream of tartar and vanilla, and beat until thick enough to spread. use a rubber spatula or frosting knife to spread in an even layer around sides and top of cake. beat remaining icing until cool and stiff and place in piping bag for decorating cake. (food coloring may be added to remaining icing at this point). when frosting on cake has hardened, pipe on decorative borders.
